Geology Kit
*appropriate for independent learning for grade 6 and up (adult support recommended for younger ages).
Before we get into the details of the Geology Kit, let me introduce myself. My name is Tara and I am a co-founder of blue marble learning scene. I am particularly excited to share my passion for geology with you, which started right here in Kingston and was one of my main focuses throughout my Bachelors and Masters degrees. I hope you enjoy the kit we have created and that it inspires you to learn more about the rocks and minerals around you.
Explore geology with this Geology Kit and the included 20 rock and mineral samples. Learn all about the rock cycle, a brief geologic history of Kingston, Ontario, the difference between rocks and minerals and how to identify them, all about fossils, rocks in our everyday lives, and the often ignored sediments of geology. Use the samples to follow along with this 38 page booklet crafted by a knowledgeable environmental scientist to enhance your understanding of geology - no experience required. Bring the provided rock and mineral identification field guide with you to explore rocks in nature after having learned all the basics. Happy rock hounding!
