Bring your class for experiential learning to explore nature at Topsy Farms. blue marble will guide you in explorations of geology, soils, biodiversity, or trees on the farm. Plus, learn all about what’s happening at Topsy that day, which could include bee keeping, sheep farming, cows, or tractors!

Explore Nature at Topsy is available from April to the end of November each year.

Your Visit

Bring your class (available for kindergarten through grade 8) for a 2.5 hour visit to Topsy Farms on Amherst Island. Choose from 3 different science topics to focus your visit.

Starting at 10:05 am your day will include a welcome walk, nature activity, snack break (snacks not supplied), and Topsy Farms stations before you head out at 12:30 pm.

You will need to take the 9:30 am ferry from Millhaven to Stella in order to get to the farm for 10:05 am. You will be returning on the 1 pm ferry from Stella to Millhaven. The ferry costs $20 for a bus, round trip.

We can also accommodate a later start time of 11:05 am which requires you to take the 10:30 am ferry and leave on the 2 pm ferry.

Cost

Explore Nature at Topsy is $175 per class*

All payments are required by the day of the activity. If you choose to pay later you will receive an invoice for $175 per class via email.

*Groups with less than 11 learners can receive a discounted price of $95 per group

*You must arrange your own transportation to Topsy Farms

Sciences at Topsy

Choose from one of the following nature activities:

Geology at Topsy  - explore, find, and make your own rocks and fossils

Trees at Topsy  - date, contrast, and appreciate trees

Biodiversity at Topsy  - analyze, compare, and discuss biodiversity

Although all activities can be adjusted for kindergarten to grades 8, we recommend Geology or Trees at Topsy for younger grades.

Liability Waiver

When you book an Explore Nature at Topsy visit you and your students will be required to sign a Topsy Farms liability waiver. Any person who does not sign this waiver will not be permitted to participate in the visit.

Cancellation Policy for Explore Nature at Topsy Visits

If you have booked an Explore Nature at Topsy visit, you can cancel for any reason and receive a full refund if the experience is cancelled 48 hours before the scheduled visit. A partial refund of 50% of the original cost can be obtained up until 24 hours before the scheduled visit.

If your visit must be cancelled by blue marble learning scene or Topsy Farms for any reason (e.g. weather, ferry disruptions) you will receive a full refund or have the option to reschedule. We will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible when cancelling. Please be aware that weather and ferry disruptions may only be discovered the day of the visit.

Pandemic Considerations

If a visit is cancelled as a result of stay at home orders / lock downs, put in place by the Ontario Government, or if there are positive COVID cases within you class, you will have the option to

1. reschedule the experience for another time: or

2. cancel the experience and receive a full refund.
