Grade 3 Science Units - 2022 Updates!
Ontario curriculum based science units with a nature twist! All four units will cover the entire grade science curriculum with the exception of coding and indigenous perspectives. Each science unit includes pdf instructions and all relevant handouts and digital resources (where applicable).

Required materials
Gr 3 strong and stable structures: Collect of sticks, small branches, String, Paper for rolling, such as newspaper or scrap paper, Tape, Wide tongue depressor type popsicle sticks, class set plus extras , Paper, Regular popsicle sticks, Plasticine
Gr 3 growth and changes in plants: Seeds, quick germination ones such as peas, beans, lettuce, radish, tomato, sunflower, Egg cartons, Paper towel, Potting soil, 5 plants of the same type
Gr 3 soils: Soil samples, Clear container, Containers to collect different soils, Chocolate chip cookies, two per learner (one for mining and one for eating), Skewers and/or butter knives, pencils, Water, Seeds for growing, such as peas or lettuce
Gr 3 forces and motion: Pine cone, Small bucket with handle filled with water, optional, Eggs, Found materials, such as cardboard, containers, old fabric, bags, scrap paper, Tape, Magnets, all types, Thin plastic or cardstock, Rope, String, Balloons, Marbles, Objects for ramps, such as books, Water ‘pond’ for test boats, such as a capped eavestrough or large bucket, fan
